A Spontaneous Date

Some days I am really good about having my phone on me all day and somedays not. I am kind of bad about sitting my phone down on my desk & leaving my office to go see patients & not coming back to my desk for a couple of hours because I'm busy. Well, today was one of those days. At 4:45pm, when I was wrapping things up for the day, I headed to my office & put my laptop away, grabbed my cell phone & purse, locked up my office, and walked toward the elevator. Then, I saw that I had 3 missed phone calls {and a picture message}. First, I looked at the picture message.. This one was from my mother in law {or, as I call her, my SC mom..since I don't particularly think that "in law" makes them sound like family. and she is most definitely a big part of my family}. She had bought Kinsley Anne a high chair for the lake house & said in the message that it would now be easier to feed her at the lake! YAY! K isn't spoiled at all!! ;)

Then, I looked at my phone call log. All 3 missed calls were from Kyle. So, naturally, I called him back & he asked if I wanted to meet for supper in a downtown area that has several great restaurants. Of course, I said yes. So, I went and picked up K from "school." Then, I headed to that downtown area. Kyle got stuck in traffic on the highway because of an accident, so he told me to head into the little general store that recently opened there & that he would meet me in there when he arrived. About 15 minutes later, Kyle was there. He told me to pick out some Costa sunglasses. An early birthday present to me!! I definitely didn't argue and tried on several pairs. And although I'm not a decision maker, I fairly easily decided on these. I am also excited that they fit easily in my Lilly croakies. Yay for new sunglasses before the 4th of July weekend!

After I picked out sunglasses, of course I had to pick out some pound know, the old school candy in the barrels that is bought by the pound? My favorites are the red Sunkist fruit gems. YUMMY!!

We went across the street for supper to a neat little hole-in-the-wall restaurant, The Mason Jar. It was pretty tasty, but I think my favorite part was drinking out of the mason jars. You are all going to think I'm crazy, but I think everything tastes better out of a mason jar. I actually take my medicine (all 10 pills) every night with water from a mason jar. I had "Mason Jar Chicken" which was grilled chicken with country ham, cheddar cheese, and honey mustard on top. It came with mixed vegs & french fries. Kyle wanted the special (Turkey & gravy) and although the were "out" of the special, his chicken pot pie looked awesome! He opted for mashed taters instead of the salad that was supposed to come with it. Guess what we ate for dessert? yep, our pound candy!!!!

I loved our spontaneous night out together. Thanks, babe!

K was generally well behaved during all of that and crawled around playing tonight when we got home, but crashed before long. She is so funny at night now. She is absolutely exhausted by 730p. Yet, when we put her in her crib between 730-8p, she sits herself up and trades out her paci with just about every.single.paci. in her crib before finding just the right one. This takes her a good 10 or 15 minutes, but when she finds the right one, she cuddles up to either "Raffy" (her Angel Dear giraffe blanket) or her dolly and conks out. We have always put ~10 pacis in her crib so that she can find one in her sleepy-headedness in the middle of the night if she wakes up...although most times, she sleeps soundly all night.

I hope yall had a good night!

Until Next Time..

Dear Kinsley Anne

Dear Kinsley Anne,

You are officially too old for your mom to handle.
You are a mover now and are into everything!
On Friday, you were here with us on Earth longer than I was pregnant with you!
You have made these past 36 weeks (as of today) better than I could have ever imagined.
We love you more than we could have ever dreamed.

Sweet girl, thank you for making us a mama & daddy 36 weeks ago.

Love, us.

{sigh} oh, to be able to sleep wherever, whenever, and however you want.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

First off, I'm a major slacker & haven't done Kyle's birthday/Father's Day post yet...but it will come!

Next, IT'S WEDNESDAY! I'm happy that I'm halfway done the work week, but sad that that means my mommy leaves tomorrow....without further ado, here's what I'm loving this week...

{1} my sweet girl! She's now crawling forward!!! And pulling up!!!! Where did this little mover come from?! She crawled on Tuesday night going after Kyle's Citadel ring...I think this means that she likes shiny gold jewelry...what do you think?

{2} my sweet husband. He's "over the hill" now and all, but I still love him..HA! jk. He is such a good Daddy to Kinsley & you can just see the love she has for him when he walks in the door from work each day. That flirty little smile is something else.

{3} my mommy being in town!! Kinsley Anne hasn't been to "school" since 1 week ago. She has thoroughly enjoyed her vacation, hanging with Nanny! Her teachers aren't going to know what to do when she goes tomorrow and crawls across the room for a toy.

{4} this super cute Britax. The time has come to switch Kinsley Anne from her carrier to a big girl car seat. She's just too long. But why do these have to be so daggum expensive?!

{5} Baby Mum-Mums....ok maybe I don't love them, but Little K does! My mom found these this week & she thinks she's something special eating "cookies."

{6} These David Yurman pearl rings..a girl can dream, right?

{7} These simple Cole Haan dark silver flats. They're on sale at Bloomys! & they would go with just about anything!!

What are you loving this week? Hop on over here & let us know!

Until Next Time..
Love, Jen

Kinsley Anne is 8 months old!

Today marks the day when I have been a mommy for 8 months!! I feel like 8 months is so old, but yet, it feels like just yesterday, I was scared to death, in preterm labor, at 34 weeks.

Kinsley Anne, at 8 months old, you are:
  • wearing size 2 diapers
  • wearing 9 month clothing & occasionally 12 month pants.
  • Weighing who knows how much! And I also don't know your length! Why?? Because you have been so healthy that we have not been to the doctor!!!!! I will happily wait until your 9 month well check to find those stats out.
  • Moving from laying to sitting independently & vice versa.
  • Scooting backwards quickly & well.
  • Occasionally moving in a forward direction.
  • Pulling up when we reach our hands out for you to hold onto
  • Loving all of your activity center things. Anything musical or noisy is your favorite though.
  • Enjoying throwing things and watching them hit the floor.
  • Playing with Mommy's sunglasses and phone whenever the opportunity to pull them from me arises.
my little lowcountry girl. wearing croakies already! {sorry for the dark/poor quality}
  • Entertaining yourself for longer periods of time.
  • Still loving the bathtub. You have also been in the pool & the lake several times each. You are not so sure about the cold pool water, but seem to enjoy the warm lake!
  • Not liking to go under the water. Mommy blew on your face and dunked you like she used to do with the mommy & me kids at the YMCA during lessons. You were not a fan.
  • VERY vocal. No words yet, but you are very interactive.
  • Still loving you paci. You have been chewing it on the right side of your mouth all day today. Will that first tooth finally pop through soon?
who cares if the paci's upside down or sideways... it's so good.
  • Eating a bottle every 3 hours and eating solids 3 times/day. You still don't like peas, but will eat anything else.
  • LOVING puffs. We also bought you some veggie sticks today and you like those as well.
  • Taking 2 naps most days. 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon. However, you still have your cat napping days where you take a 3-4 naps but they are all only 20-40 minutes at most.

To our sweet girl,
It has been more than a pleasure being your mommy & daddy for the past 8 months. I am so excited to watch you develop and grow. Each day is a new adventure. Although parenting is not easy 100% of the time, it is beyond well worth it. You make us smile & laugh daily and I have most definitely learned to appreciate life through simpler eyes. I cannot get enough of your wet kisses & your sweet cuddles. I still recite "Guess How Much I Love You" to you each night & almost like it's your cue, when Little Nutbrown Hare closes his eyes and goes to sleep, so do you. We love you to the moon & back...always, always, always, and forever.

Love, your mama & daddy

I hope yall are having a good weekend!
I am very excited for tomorrow - Kyle's birthday & his first father's day.
Happy early Father's Day to all of you special men out there.

Until Next Time..
Love, Jen

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Good morning yall! I am sipping on a big ol' cup of hot chocolate this morning trying to get started!

This week, I'm....
{1} loving my munchkin!! I have some GREAT pictures that I need to upload on here of Kinsley Anne. We had a cookout with Kyle's work & his coworker's wife took some really good pictures of K. Her eyes just get bluer and bluer.

{2} not loving hearing Kinsley Anne cry at 530am (because I'd rather sleep another 30 minutes), I'm secretly glad that she's decided that this is her weekday wake-up time. It means that we get moving earlier, which means Kyle gets to leave work earlier!! ..and that, I LOVE! :)

{3} LOVING this sunshine. I know I probably whine about how hot I am, but I'd take 90s over 20-30s any day of the week!

{4} loving my hair! I got caramel highlights, a toner, & keratin. I go back again in 4 weeks to at least get color again & trim things up before the wedding in mid-july. (One of my bridesmaids/high school friends is marrying my brother in law...small world!)

{5} loving (obsessing) over my recently new favorite tanks. I have many! The Mossimo Micro Rib tank. The main reason I like them is a) they are not ribbed, so they don't pull over my pretty large chest, b) they are long enough, and c) they're only $9 at Target!

{6} love love loving that my mom is coming to visit this week & staying until next week!!!!!!!! My parents haven't seen Kinsley since she was ~6 months old. Lots has changed since then & she is so much fun right now!!!!

What are you loving? Hop on over to Jamie's blog & let us know!

Until Next Time..

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Today is Wednesday which mean's we're halfway done the work week!!!! :) Hop on over and play along!

This week, I'm lovin'...

{1} My sweet family.

{2} That I'm getting my hair did Friday.. trim, thinning out, color, & keratin. {ahh, big sigh of relief} my hair will be straight again. THANK GOD! I'm trying out a new stylist, so let's hope I like it!

no, neither of these heads are me. but, that's what it does to my hair & I am so thankful to the keratin creators. whoever thought of this is a pure genius!

{3} That the Blue Ridge BBQ is this weekend! We're planning to head up there for lunch on Saturday.

{4} That my fabulous friend, Alaina, is getting married on Saturday! Praying for her & that she will have many years of wedded bliss.

{5} That we have no plans for Sunday. I love lazy Sundays, typically spent at the lake.

On My Mind..

I woke up with a blogworld "friend" on my mind this morning. I mentioned Megan being pregnant in this post, but today, she was on my mind for a different reason. She was on my mind because of her son. Cohen came into this world with an uphill battle to climb. He had a very broken heart & ultimately, he lived here on Earth for a short but strongly fought 12 days. Today marks his 1st birthday. What an unbelievable party he must be having upstairs in Heaven. I just can't imagine what the decorations must look like. How Jesus' voice must sound singing him "Happy Birthday" amongst all of the other angels. Wow. But still, the achy feeling that Megan and her husband must feel. A piece of their heart must be missing. I can't imagine & honestly hope that I never come to know what this must feel like. Please, if you can spare a moment, hop over to her blog & leave her some encouraging words.

Thanks for that.

On another note, when is it OK to want your child on allergy medicine? My poor girl looks like this every morning...

look at those puffy eyes!
her nose is also snotty..again!
sorry about the poor pic quality, it's a moving baby iphone picture. ha!

Until Next Time...

What I'm Lovin' Wednesday

Is it June already?! Evidently so. When a patient yesterday told me she was done school on June 2nd, I said "oh wow." thinking that she had weeks left. Then I realized I sounded really stupid, because that's tomorrow. Whoops. Anyway, it's June 1st...& it's Wednesday.. soo, without further ado, here's what I'm lovin' this Wednesday!

That my sweet little girl wants to crawl so badly that she gets oh so mad when she faceplants. and that she went on her 1st boat ride & enjoyed it so much that she fell asleep. i love her in her precious life jacket!

That my husband loves me unconditionally.

That everytime Theresa opens her mouth, she says that she's innocent and her brother's guilty about 10 times....ok, so maybe I don't love it but I think it's hilarious.

Smockadot Kids & Lolly Wolly Doodle on Facebook..can we say obsessed?

That my mom may be coming to visit us at some point this month when school is through!!

That one of my friends, Katie, and I found out that there was a Buckhead Betties warehouse sale starting today & hit it up! Even better, we found out that there is another one here in the fall! HELLO Christmas presents!! :)

Go link up with Jamie & let us know what you love!

Until Next Time..
Love, Jen
