Mama Jen @ 19 weeks and counting..

Weeks: 19 tomorrow

Cravings: Chick Fil A spicy chicken sandwich meal (large, please!) with Chick Fil A sauce; natural white cheddar cheetos; frozen twix; sushi (tempura only); soft serve ice cream with rainbow sprinkles (haha); and lots of other yummy treats.

Any foods you don't want? Still not loving shrimp or hamburgers. But, I did venture to eat eggs in a small portion again & they didn't make me sick like last time.

Symptoms? She's kicking! I started feeling her more regularly this week & Kyle even got to feel the slightest kick once or twice. I suspect that soon, he'll feel it more noticeably. She is just like me though, a good sleeper (let's all pray that this continues outside of the womb). When I'm up and walking or moving around, she stays really still. But, whenever I'm sitting at work, watching a ball game, or laying in bed, she is up and moving!

Showing: yes I am. Not huge by any means, but the bump is undeniably there. My outty belly button from the days of my childhood has also, unfortunately, returned. Depending on the shirt I'm wearing, there is no mistaking that I have an outty! Poor Kinsley, I hope she does not inherit that trait from me.

Boy or Girl?
Miss Kinsley Anne Settle

Bought anything? A few things. Trying not to go crazy still but I bought 3 pairs of pants, all with ruffles on the butts :) I also bought the cutest pacifier clip.

Also, my Aunt Carol & Uncle Dick in Katy, Texas sent Kyle & I a convertible car seat (that is safe from 5-100lbs) on Friday. We were so excited to see a big box on our doorstep & it is set up in her room. We can't wait until we can look in the rear view mirror and see her in it!! You can see this awesome gift below:

Eddie Bauer Deluxe 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat - Westport - Dorel Juvenile Group - Babies"R"Us
Shopping for anything? Julie & I went to Babies R Us on June 12th & registered for 3 hours. MAN!!! I was so tired & hungry afterwards, so we headed to Zaxby's..yum! I guess I just didn't realize you need so much stuff for a baby! I have started registering a few things online at Target but need to make a trip there with time to actually register things in person. I am also currently just browsing for room decor. I am almost positive that we are hanging her name above her crib. We found letters for $2.99 each at Hobby Lobby and will find some cute ribbon to semi-match her bedding (if it ever comes in!) to hang the letters from.

..And the dad to be? Very excited & so supportive as always. He has been so understanding of the fact that when I lay down, in approximately 3.5 minutes or less, I will be asleep. I hate that for him, but I just can't seem to keep my eyes open. And thankfully, I am sleeping through the night again!! I think Miss Kinsley Anne decided to move off of mommy's bladder & she will never know how much that means to me! I think it will make it even more real for Daddy-to-be when he can feel Kinsley Anne kicking more regularly. I know that that sensation has definitely helped me "feel pregnant."

Most recent appointment? 6/3 for the big reveal. I am posting pictures below of her ultrasound at 16 weeks. She is laying with her back up, head to the left, and legs to the right. You can see her brain, spine, and cute little legs. There is a 3rd picture at the bottom where you will see the cutest little foot that I can't wait to kiss!!

Next appointment? June 29th for another ultrasound. SO excited!

Onto non-pregnancy things..
  • We had a great time last night @ Fluor Field last night in Greenville. They were hosts to the SAL (south-atlantic league) All-Star homerun derby and game. It was a sold-out stadium & was fun to watch. There was plenty of entertainment in watching kids fight over foul balls, frisbees, and tshirts. Kyle and I had a chat with Kinsley on the way home and told her that "we expect better out of her than that." HA! Clay & his friend Kyle also joined us for the game.
  • This weekend, we are going to a bbq @ Kyle's cousin's house (Jenna). Jenna is pregnant & due exactly one month prior to me! It is really fun to be able to talk pregnancy with someone who has gone through the things I am going through. I am excited to think that Kade (their little boy) & Kinsley will grow up being such good friends!
  • Ashley, one of my bridesmaids, and now Ryan's (Kyle's middle but younger brother) fiance officially moved south! She is from up in DE and I went to school with her in HS, but she has made the trek to South Carolina to stay. This summer should be a fun one out on the lake!
  • Speaking of the lake, I got up the nerve to wakeboard...yes, while pregnant. My back and neck were sore yesterday but I didn't hurt anything! Kinsley seemed to really like the water...another time when her movements slowed & she probably went to sleep. Clay (Kyle's youngest brother) and I were joking that Kinsley Anne will have no choice but to be a water baby. I can't wait to start teaching her swim lessons next summer!
Until next time..
Love, Jen

ps - baby Kinsley, WE LOVE YOU!!!!!

Adoption Auction!

Celebrate Every Day

A friend from work (from Tres Alejandros) told me about an online blog auction that's helping raise $15,000 for the adoption of a child for this family! It started this morning at 7am and goes until tomorrow night at 10pm. Check out the cute things & basically you leave a comment with your bid (that must be over the suggested amount listed for each item). If you are a blogspot member, you don't have to leave your name, etc. But, if you use "anonymous" to comment, leave your name and email address so that they can contact you. These are mostly home-sewn items, such as dresses, skirts, and hooded towels and there are also necklaces, scarves, etc. I wanted to pass this on!! Happy shopping!

Another prego update to come soon...

Mama Jen @ 17 weeks...

Weeks: 17 & 1 day

Cravings: random things..still loving salad & various salad dressings that I never ate previously, caffeine-free diet coke floats, frozen twix, corn on the cob...and the list goes on.

Any foods you don't want? Eggs & squash are 2 things that I tried to eat in the last week or two that did not make me feel so hot. So, I guess I won't be indulging in those 2 items... Still don't want cookies & such, but as mentioned above, frozen twix/snickers & coke floats hit the spot!

Symptoms? still wanting to nap lots (probably because I am THE most restless sleeper at night), and I felt "bubbles" in my stomach this week that were perhaps movement, because my stomach was not upset & I did not have gas :) Kyle put his ear to my belly after I felt it a few times in the same spot in a row & he said "it sounds like an aquarium in there!" haha

Showing: my baby bump is undeniable to me & starting to be noticeable to others. No patients have been brave enough to ask though...even those that I've seen for 1 year +.

Boy or Girl?
GIRL!! Kinsley Anne!!

Bought anything? Yes!! We bought her crib, dresser/changing table, mattress, and bedding. Everything is put together and in place except the bedding had to be ordered. I will post pictures asap!

Shopping for anything? Julie (kyle's mom) and I are going to Babies 'R' Us this weekend because Kyle is going to Charleston for the weekend. We will be registering for some items & I'm sure I won't be able to come home all-the-way empty handed. I am going to start browsing for a plain comforter/quilt & sheets to put on the twin bed that will stay in the nursery for bad nights.

..And the dad to be? After finding out that we were having a girl, he said he was "anxiously excited." I think he is going to be SUCH a good daddy & there is no denying that he is excited now. He called Johnathan, who's wife is Kyle's cousin and is also expecting (due exactly 1 month prior to me), and said.."I'm sure glad yall are having a boy." Johnathan asked why, and Kyle responded with, "well somebody has to stick up for my little girl!" {awww}. I just can't wait to see Kinsley snuggle up with her daddy!

Most recent appointment? 6/3 - the Dr. dopplered me and the heartrate was in the 150s. We deferred some of the optional screenings, such as for Cystic Fibrosis, since this would not change our mind on whether to stay pregnant. Then, we had an ultrasound to peek at baby's parts & there were no boy parts!! She actually presented a challenge to the tech because she was laying on her belly with the umbilical cord through her legs, so she had to move her around before we could say for sure that it was girl. Julie was able to come to that appointment with Kyle & I and she had brought a pink gift and a blue gift, so Kinsley got her first set of pink onesies last week!

Next appointment? June 29th for our big 20 week ultrasound!! I'm so excited to see our precious little girl again. We are already so in love!

Onto non-pregnancy things..
  • We have baby guineas! Kyle & I have proven to be able to keep things alive..which is a very reassuring sign considering that we have a human being growing inside of me. Guineas are birds that are also called alarms, bug controllers, etc. They are super cute as babies but are actually kind of ugly things as adults. Kyle and I bought 3 dozen guinea eggs & incubated them and despite 2 power outages, 12 of them survived! (The power got turned off {arghh} while they were hatching and while we were not home, so their eggs got very dry and some could not get out of their eggs alive). Anyway, they are very curious little creatures & are very entertaining to watch. The purpose of these birds, since I know you're wondering, is to let them roam on our 10 acres of pasture because they LOVE to eat red ants, ticks, bees, and other little pests. Google them to see what they look like, because they really are kind of ugly things! :)
  • Kyle is going to Charleston this weekend to see his good friend David Warren. Dave & his fiance Emily are getting married July 17th at the Summerall Chapel at the Citadel & Dave's grandfather is taking the groom and all of the groomsmen out to eat Saturday night. It will be so good for Kyle to spend some time with Dave. Dave also went to the Citadel but I'm not so sure that they really knew each other there. But then, they were on the same job at Fluor in Greenville and became quite close. Dave moved back to Charleston to be with Emily & to take a new career avenue, so we miss seeing them. I can't wait to see Emily as a beautiful bride in July!!
  • I went to Ruth's Chris last night with work & it was SOO good. I had lobster bisque, stuffed chicken with cheese & shoestring potatoes. YUM, I highly recommend it as a nice date night meal, but make sure your wallet is full of money, because it's not cheap!
Until next time..
Love, Jen
